Publishing dates allow you to automatically control when individual sections of a page are displayed on your website.
This means you can prepare content in advance and choose exactly when a section should go live or expire, without needing to log in and manually make the change at the required time.
Publishing dates can also be set on pages and panels, giving you control over scheduled content throughout your website.
How to set publishing dates on a section
- Log in to your site's back office.
- Select Pages from the left-hand menu.
- Open the page containing the section you want to schedule.
- Find the relevant section and select Section Options.
- Select the Publishing tab.
Within the Publishing tab, you can set:
Publishing Date
The date the section should become visible on your website.Expiry Date
The date the section should stop being visible on your website.- Use the Hours and Minutes fields to specify the exact time you want the publishing or expiry action to take place.
- Once you've entered your required dates and times, submit your publishing settings.
- Save the page to ensure your changes are applied.
Your section will then automatically become visible or expire based on the dates and times you've selected.
Replacing one section with another
Publishing and expiry dates can also be used together to automatically replace one section with another.
For example, you may have an Early Bird ticket pricing section that needs to be replaced with standard ticket pricing at midnight.
To set this up:
- Open your existing Early Bird section and add an expiry date and time for when the offer ends.
- Create a new section containing your standard ticket pricing or updated content.
- Add a publishing date and time to the new section.
- Set this to the same date and time that the original section expires.
- Save the page.
At the scheduled time, the Early Bird section will automatically expire and the new section will become visible.
Publishing dates are useful whenever website content needs to change at a specific time.
For example, you can use them to schedule:
- Ticket price changes
- Registration opening or closing
- Early Bird offers
- Event announcements
- Sponsor or exhibitor content
- Agenda or programme updates
- Post-event messaging
By setting these changes up in advance, you don't need to manually update your website at the exact time the content needs to change. This is particularly useful for changes that need to take place outside normal working hours.
