Within ShowOff, you can copy individual sections from one page and place them onto another page within the same website. This is a great way to save time when reusing content or layouts, as it removes the need to rebuild sections from scratch.
Note: Section cloning is available across all ShowOff templates, allowing you to quickly reuse content and layouts regardless of the template being used on the page.
Before you begin
- This functionality is available on all ShowOff templates.
- Sections can only be copied between pages within the same website/back office.
- Copying a section creates a duplicate of the original section.
- Any content, styling, and settings configured on the original section will be copied across.
- Changes made to the copied section will not affect the original section, and vice versa.
Copying a section
- Navigate to the page containing the section you would like to copy.
- Locate the section and hover over it.
On the right-hand side of the section, you'll see the copy icon shown below. Select this icon to begin copying the section.
Choose whether you would like to copy the section to:
- The Current Page, or
- Another Page within the same website.
- If you select Current Page, a duplicate of the section will be added to the bottom of the page you are currently editing.
- If you select Another Page, you will be presented with a dropdown list of all available pages within the website. Select the page you would like to copy the section to.
- Once the section has been copied, you will have the option to jump directly to the destination page. As with copying to the same page, the newly copied section will be placed at the bottom of the page.
- You can then reposition the section as required and update its styling or content to suit the new page.
Notes
- Newly copied sections are always added to the bottom of the destination page.
- After copying, you can reposition the section using the page builder's drag-and-drop functionality.
- Any updates made to the copied section will only affect that version of the section.
- The original section will remain unchanged after the copy has been completed.
Troubleshooting
I can't see the copy icon
- Ensure you are hovering directly over the section you wish to copy.
- Confirm that you have the necessary permissions to edit the page.
- Try refreshing the page and attempting the action again.
I can't find the copied section
- Newly copied sections are always added to the bottom of the destination page.
- If you copied the section to another page, ensure you are viewing the correct destination page.
- Refresh the page if the section does not appear immediately.
The copied section doesn't look correct
- Review any content, images, links, or settings that may be specific to the original page.
- Some sections may require minor adjustments after being copied to fit the new page layout.
I accidentally copied a section
- Simply delete the duplicated section if it is no longer required.
- Deleting the copied section will not affect the original section.
