The Seminar and Speaker settings covered in this article are available on Composer 2 websites and selected custom websites. If any of the options described below are unavailable on your site, please contact your Account Manager to confirm which template your website uses and which settings it supports.
Your Composer 2 agenda may include sessions with several speakers, chairpeople, moderators or panellists. You can see examples of how these appear on our Composer 2 agenda showcase.
By default, agenda layouts use a singular heading for each speaker type, such as Speaker or Chairperson. If some sessions have more than one person in the same role, you can change the heading to something that works for both single and multiple people, such as Speaker(s) or Chairperson(s).
Change a speaker type heading
- Open the relevant site in ShowOff.
- Go to Modules > Seminars.
- Open the seminar programme you want to edit.
- Select More > Custom Fields.
- Find the speaker type field you want to change, such as Speaker, Chairperson, Moderator or Panellist, and select Edit.
- Update the Label field with the wording you want to show on the website. For example, change Speaker to Speaker(s).
- Save your change, then repeat these steps for any other speaker types or seminar programmes you want to update.
The Custom Fields page contains the fields used by your seminar programme. These include standard fields, such as the session title, date, times, location and stream, as well as any fields you have added yourself. If you need an additional field, select Create Custom Field in the top right and choose the appropriate field type.
If the speaker type heading does not appear
The heading may be switched off in your agenda layout. To check:
- Go to Modules > Seminars and open the relevant seminar options, or open the page containing your seminar widget and edit the widget.
- Select Layout Settings.
- Go to List Settings > Content > Header > Speakers.
- Turn on Show the Speaker Type Heading (Chairperson, Speakers (...))?
- Save your changes and refresh the website page.
The Speakers tab also contains other display options, including text colours, whether a person’s salutation or title and image appear, and how their job title and company are separated.
Change the separator between job title and company on your agenda
By default, agenda listings use a dash between a person’s job title and company. You can change this to a comma:
- Go to Modules > Seminars and open the relevant seminar options, or edit the seminar widget on your page.
- Select Layout Settings > List Settings > Content > Header > Speakers.
- Change Job Title / Company separator style from Dash to Comma.
- Save your changes.
To use the same formatting on the individual session pages that visitors see after clicking a session, return to Layout Settings, select Entry Settings, and change the Job Title / Company separator style there too.
Show job title and company on separate lines in a speaker listing
Speaker listings use a comma between the job title and company by default. They will appear on the same line when there is enough space. If you would prefer them on separate lines:
- Go to Modules > Speakers and open the relevant speaker options, or edit the speaker widget on your page.
- Select Layout Settings or Advanced Settings, depending on where you are making the change.
- Go to List Settings > Content > Job Title.
- Turn on Make the Job Title and Company appear stacked.
- Save your changes and refresh the page.
You can see examples of speaker listing layouts on our Composer 2 speaker grid showcase.
