Widgets can be added to pages and panels and allow you to add dynamic elements to your page instead of just static content. A dynamic element could be an exhibitor list, form or a piece of 3rd party code for example a google map or you tube video.
Task
Adding widgets to a page
- In the CMS choose “Pages” from the left menu
- In the list of pages, find the page you created earlier and click the name. This will take you to the page editor.
- Click in the body of the page and add a new section. Choose the 1 article layout.
- Click into the body of the article, in the toolbar click the “insert widget” icon. This is the wand icon.
- From the list of widgets scroll down and select a widget, we shall use “I Catcher Image” in this example.
- Click the button to “Add New”
- Give the image a title and click browse next to the image field.
- This opens media manager. Choose an image from media manager to use in your I catcher image.
- Optionally add a URL and target.
- Click “Add New” to add a 2nd image to the I catcher
- Give the image a title and click browse next to the image field.
- This opens media manager. Choose an image from media manager to use in your I catcher image.
- Optionally add a URL and target.
- Click the “Insert Widget” button.
- This will add the widget to the page and return you to the page editor.
- Save the page and verify your widget is working by clicking the “preview” button for the page.
Embedding a 3rd Party Code widget
- Click here and go to Google Maps. We are going to embed this map into the page.
- Click the share icon and choose the embed map heading.
- Copy the code in the text box.
- Click back into the page editor and add another Section.
- Click into the body of the article, in the toolbar click the “insert widget” icon. This is the wand icon.
- Scroll down and choose the “3rd Party Code” widget
- Paste the code in from Google and click “Insert widget”
- Save the page and verify your widget is working by clicking the “preview” button for the page.
To edit a widget, you can either double click the widget placeholder in the article or you can right click and choose to edit.
To delete a widget, you can right click the widget placeholder and choose remove widget. Once the page is saved this widget will be removed.
