Pages in Showoff will form the bulk of the content on your site. Page Editor allows you to add, edit, organise and delete pages on your website. A page is broken down into sections and articles. The articles can contain static text and images that you add manually, or they can include widgets of dynamic content which we will cover in a later topic.
Useful Tips
- Make any page the homepage from the Actions dropdown
- Keep your pages well organised.
- Think about using the “copy page” function to save time. You can also copy from one site to another.
- Try to avoid using “click here”, e.g. For more information on registering click here

SEO Tip
- When creating a new page, think about the content that will be the page title. Our sites use SEO friendly URLs (which put title keywords into the URL and therefore has a positive impact on your website’s SEO overall).
- Give all images a descriptive alt text, this will help SEO and accessibility
TASK
Create a new page with 2 sections that contains some text and images
- In the CMS choose “Pages” from the left menu
- Select ‘Add Page’ from the option at the very top of the CMS.
- Give the page a name.
Note: the initial URL of the page will be determined from this page title. You can change this later if need be.
- Click the button that says “Create New Section” in the body of the page.
- Choose the layout you want and press “Select Layout”
- Fill out the title fields for the section and articles. Sections and articles can exist without a title, so you can leave these blank.
- Click into the body of an article to add some content into the body. When clicking into the article this brings up a toolbar. In the toolbar click the “A” icon. This will add some default Lorum Ipsum text.
- Now add an image to a section.
- in the toolbar click the “image” icon.
- In the popup window click “Browse Files”. This brings up the media manager. Navigate through the media manager and choose the image you want to use.
- Add some descriptive alternative text and press ok.
- The image should appear on the page.
- Now add a link to your page
- Highlight the text that you want to link in the page
- In the toolbar click the “link” button
- Choose “Page” as the type of link you want to insert.
- Chick the choose button next to the page box. This brings up a list of pages
- Choose a page to link to. For sites with a number of pages there is a search functionality
- Once you have chosen a page set the link target and click add link.
- You have successfully added a link to the page
- Once content has been included, click the button to create a new section.
- Repeat steps 5-12 and enter the content you require.
- By default, pages are active, leave the active setting in the bottom right of the page and click save to save your changes
- The page has now been created and can be browsed on the front of the site if you know the direct link. If will not be live to end users until you link to it.
- To view the page on the site, click the “eye” icon, the top option on the right-hand side. This will open this page on the site.
Change a Page URL
The Page URL is defined by the structure of the pages, for example all sub pages of the exhibiting page (exhibiting) will have the URL /exhibiting/<pagename>.
To change the <pagename> part of the URL
- Click into the page you just created in the CMS and in the right-hand options (vertical bar) click the “settings” cog. This expands the general options for the page.
- By default, the page URL is locked and cannot be edited. To edit this, click the padlock icon in the top right of the options pane. This will unlock the field.
- The full URL is shown below the field. To edit the URL, click into the field and make the changes you need. You will see the URL change below the box as you type.
- Once complete click the “padlock” icon to lock the field
- Click the save option at the bottom of the page to save your changes
- Click on home, then go back into Pages (this will clear cache)
- Click the “Preview” icon and verify that the page URL has changed inline with the change you made
Changing a page Layout
By default, your sites theme will include several page layouts. You can easily change this to suite the content you are adding to the page body, to change a page layout
- Click into the page you just created in the CMS and in the right-hand options click the “Display Options” (screen) icon.
- Choose a new layout option from the “Current Page Layout” drop down.
- Click “save” at the bottom of the page to save your changes.
Click the “Preview” icon and verify layout has changed
