Overview
A pre-launch review can catch many of the issues that reduce conversion, such as unclear CTAs, poor comparison structure, weak tracking, or avoidable accessibility problems. A strong review process should check whether the page supports the user’s goal clearly and whether the business can measure the result. Google’s SEO Starter Guide also emphasises that websites should be built to help users find and explore content easily.
Check 1: Is the Page Goal Clear?
Before publishing, confirm that the page answers:
what is this page for?
who is it for?
what should the user do next?
If the page does not make those points obvious quickly, it is likely to create hesitation. Helpful, people-first content should have a clear purpose and leave the user feeling they achieved their goal.
Check 2: Is the Primary CTA Strong Enough?
The main action should be easy to find and written in clear, direct language. Avoid relying on vague button text or burying the CTA below too much competing information. Usability principles support making available actions obvious and reducing unnecessary complexity.
Check 3: Is the Page Accessible by Keyboard?
W3C guidance states that focus order should preserve meaning and operability, and all functionality should be available from a keyboard. Before launch, test whether the main links, buttons, widgets, and forms can all be used in a logical tab order.
Check 4: Is Tracking in Place?
Make sure the page supports the measurement you need, whether that is registrations, enquiries, clicks, or downloads. If the page goes live without tracking, it becomes much harder to judge its value or improve it later. A useful strategy requires both actions and ways to assess progress.
Check 5: Is the Mobile Experience Good Enough?
Review the page on smaller screens. Important content, calls to action, and interactive elements should still be easy to understand and use. Google recommends designing with users in mind and making content easy to find and explore across devices.
Summary
Before a commercial page goes live in ShowOff, check:
clarity of purpose
strength of the CTA
keyboard accessibility
tracking readiness
mobile usability
These checks often reveal issues early and can improve performance without adding major extra work.
