Overview
This guide explains how to separate and filter speakers using custom tags within the Speakers module. By creating a custom checkbox field, you can tag specific speakers and then filter them within a Speakers widget on your site pages.
This is useful for:
Displaying speakers by agenda stream (e.g., Tech Talks)
Separating keynote speakers
Creating dedicated speaker sections on different pages
Step 1: Create a Custom Field (Tag)
Go to Modules → Speakers.
Click More → Custom Fields.
Select Create Custom Field.
Under Field Type, choose Checkbox.
Enter a Label (Title) for your field (e.g., Agenda Tag).
Untick Mandatory (unless required).
Scroll down to Quick Edit.
Add your tagging options (e.g., Tech Talks Agenda, Keynote, Panel Session).
Click Done.
Click Save.
Your custom tagging field is now created.
Step 2: Tag the Relevant Speakers
Return to Modules → Speakers.
Open an individual speaker profile.
Locate the newly created custom field.
Select the appropriate checkbox tag(s).
Click Save.
Repeat this process for all speakers you want to tag.
Step 3: Filter the Speakers Widget on a Page
Once speakers have been tagged, you can filter them on a specific page:
Navigate to the page where the speakers are displayed.
Double-click the Speakers widget.
Go to the Search and Filters section.
Apply a filter using the newly created custom field tag.
Save and publish the page.
The widget will now only display speakers associated with the selected tag.
Result
You can now:
Group speakers by category
Display different speaker lists on different pages
Manage speaker separation without duplicating entries
