In most cases, updates you make in the CMS appear on your website straight away. When you click Save, we clear the relevant caches so visitors can see your changes immediately.
However, there are a small number of situations where you might notice a short delay. This is expected behaviour and helps keep your website fast and reliable during periods of high traffic.
When can a short delay happen?
Your website uses a slightly longer cache (up to 3 minutes) in the following situations:
- When someone visits the homepage
- When someone visits any other page with tracking parameters in the URL (for example,
utm_source,utm_medium, etc.)
Tracking parameters are commonly added to links in:
- Email newsletters
- Marketing campaigns
- Social media posts
- Paid advertising
Why do we do this?
The homepage is typically the most visited page on a site and is more likely to attract automated or bot traffic.
Tracked marketing links can also cause sudden spikes in traffic after newsletters or campaigns are sent, often including a large number of automated requests.
A short extended cache helps:
- Protect your site from traffic spikes and bot activity
- Reduce unnecessary server load
- Keep the site fast and stable for genuine visitors
This cache only lasts 3 minutes and refreshes automatically.
What does this mean for you?
- Your changes have been saved correctly
- Most pages will show updates immediately
- The homepage and tracked campaign URLs may show the previous version for up to 3 minutes
- No action is required — the updated version will appear automatically
How can I view my changes straight away?
If you want to see your updates immediately:
- Use the Preview link in the CMS — this always shows the latest saved version and is not affected by caching
- Otherwise, wait up to 3 minutes and refresh the live page
If you’re ever unsure whether something has updated correctly, our support team is happy to help.
