When using Showoff forms, you may set up confirmation emails to notify yourself of successful submissions or provide the details submitted by a visitor. These emails are usually sent automatically once a form is completed correctly. However, there are several reasons why you might not receive these emails.
1️⃣ Wrong Recipient Address
A very common reason is simply entering an incorrect email address.
✅ Solution: Double-check that all recipient email addresses are valid and correctly spelled.
2️⃣ Junk or Spam Folders
Some email servers may mark completion emails as junk or spam, preventing them from appearing in your inbox.
✅ Solution:
-
Check your junk/spam folders.
-
Add the sending email address to your safe senders list.
3️⃣ Emails Treated as Spam or Blacklisted
If emails are being blocked entirely, your IT department may need to intervene.
✅ Solution:
-
Ask your IT team to whitelist Showoff’s mail server IP to allow emails through.
4️⃣ Email Domain Mismatch
Some servers block emails when the “From” address domain is recognized but the email is sent from a different server.
Example:
-
From:
John.Smith@TestEvents123.com -
To:
Craig.Johnson@TestEvents123.com -
The domain
@TestEvents123.comis not being sent from your actual server.
✅ Solution:
-
Replace the “From” address with Showoff’s default email, e.g.,
Test-Events123@showoff.asp.events. -
This ensures the email is recognized as sent from a valid server.
5️⃣ Special Characters in Email Alias
Some email servers (like Outlook) restrict special characters in email aliases. Characters like & or # can prevent emails from reaching your inbox.
✅ Solution:
-
Remove any special characters from the alias.
-
Retest the form and check for email delivery within a few minutes.
6️⃣ Form Not Reaching Completion Stage
Completion emails only fire when the form reaches its completion stage.
Common reasons the form may not reach this stage:
-
Errors in form setup or routing.
-
Misconfiguration of staged forms (completion stage is not last).
-
Visitors skipping sections and not finishing the form.
✅ Solution:
-
Ensure the completion stage is the last stage in the form.
-
Test the form end-to-end to verify that the completion email triggers correctly.
💡 Tip: Form stages work top-to-bottom. Always verify the sequence so the completion stage is executed last for multi-stage forms.
