To add a search bar to your library page, you first need to locate and edit your library list in the back office. Your library page will be set up in one of two ways:
Library Module page
Library Widget on a page
Follow the relevant instructions below based on your setup.
1. Library Module
If your library page uses the Library Module, you can edit its settings directly in the back office.
Navigation
Go to:
Libraries → Select your library → Library Options (bottom-right)
Enable Free Text Search
Open the Display tab
Find “User filterable fields”
Tick the “Free-text” option
This will display a search bar at the top of the library list.
Additional Options
Other search-related settings can be found further down the same page.
2. Library Widget
If your library list is added via a widget, you can adjust its settings directly on the page.
Navigation
Go to:
Back office → Open the page → Double-click the Library Widget
Enable Free Text Search
Go to Search and Filters → User filterable fields
Tick the “Free-text” option
This will display a search bar at the top of the library list.
Additional Options
Other search-related settings are located just above the User filterable fields section.
Example
Once enabled, the search bar will appear above your library items and allow users to quickly find content.
For example:
A user types “keynote” → Results show all library items with “keynote” in the title or description
A user types “sustainability report” → Results filter to relevant documents matching that phrase
This makes it much easier for users to locate specific resources without manually browsing the full list.
If the search bar does not appear, double-check that the Free-text option is enabled and that your changes have been saved.
