Custom fields allow you to collect and display additional information within your Library items (e.g. Exhibitors, Speakers, Sponsors, etc.).
Follow the steps below to create and configure a new custom field.
Step 1: Navigate to the Library
Log in to your Dashboard
Go to Libraries
Click Manage
Select the Library you would like to edit
Click Edit
Step 2: Create a Custom Field
Click Create a custom field
Choose your required Field Type
Configure the field settings (see below)
Click Save
Click Back
Click Save again within the Library settings
Your new field will now be available within that Library.
Field Types Explained
When creating a custom field, you will be asked to choose a field type. Below is a breakdown of what each type is used for:
Text
A single-line text input field.
Best for short entries such as job titles, company names, or short labels.
Text Area
A multi-line text box.
Ideal for longer content such as biographies or descriptions.
Select (Dropdown)
A dropdown list where users choose one option from predefined values.
Useful for categories, tiers, or structured selections.
Radio
Allows users to select one option from a visible list.
Good for yes/no or limited choice selections.
Checkbox
Allows users to select multiple options from a list.
Useful for selecting multiple services, interests, or tags.
A field specifically formatted for email addresses.
Ensures correct email formatting.
Phone
A formatted field for phone numbers.
URL
Used for website links or external URLs.
Date
Allows users to select a calendar date.
Time
Used for selecting a specific time.
Image or File
Allows uploading of images or files (e.g. PDFs, documents, graphics).
Image Only
Restricts the upload to image files only.
Hidden
A field that is not visible on the front end but can store backend data.
Address
A structured field for entering address details.
WYSIWYG
“What You See Is What You Get” editor.
Provides formatting tools (bold, links, lists, etc.) for styled content.
Content Link Selector
Allows you to link the field to existing content within the CMS.
Widget
Embeds a widget or dynamic content block into the Library item.
Field Settings Explained
After choosing your field type, you can configure additional settings:
Label
The name of the field as it will appear in the CMS.
Mandatory Field
Tick this option if the field must be completed before saving the item.
Default Value
Pre-populates the field with a set value automatically.
Maximum Character Length
Limits the number of characters allowed in the field.
Useful for keeping content consistent.
Help Text
Optional guidance displayed beneath the field to assist users.
Field State (Display Rules)
Allows you to control when the field is displayed based on certain conditions.
Field Active
Tick this to make the field live and usable.
If unchecked, the field will remain inactive.
Final Step
Once you have configured your field:
Click Save
Return to the Library settings
Click Save again
Your new custom field is now successfully added to the Library 🎉
