We've released an update to the ShowOff CMS to prevent browser translation tools, such as Google Translate in Google Chrome, from inadvertently overwriting content within the CMS back office.
What's changed?
Previously, if a user had automatic browser translation enabled, content within the ShowOff CMS could be translated into another language while editing a page.
For example, if a page contained French content and Google Chrome automatically translated it into English, saving the page could unintentionally overwrite the original French content with the English translation.
We've now introduced a safeguard to prevent this from happening.
How does this work?
The ShowOff CMS back office now prevents browser translation tools from automatically translating editable content.
This ensures that:
- Content remains in its original language when editing and saving pages.
- Browser translation settings cannot inadvertently overwrite existing CMS content.
- Multilingual content can be managed safely without the risk of accidental browser-generated translations being saved.
No action is required from users. This protection is automatically applied within the ShowOff CMS.
Does this affect translation on live websites?
No. This update only applies to the ShowOff CMS back office.
Visitors browsing your live event website can continue to use browser translation features, including Google Translate, as normal.
The update does not affect any existing website translation integrations or multilingual functionality.
Summary
This improvement provides additional protection for multilingual content within ShowOff, ensuring that the original language is preserved when making and saving updates, regardless of browser translation settings.
