Custom code can be a great way to extend your website's functionality, whether it has been written by a developer or generated using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Microsoft Copilot.
ShowOff gives you the flexibility to add your own code through the Third-Party Code widget. However, it is important to understand that any code added outside of the standard ShowOff platform is your responsibility.
Before You Add Custom Code
Before adding any third-party or AI-generated code to your website, please be aware of the following:
- ASP does not review, test, validate or support code that originates outside of the ShowOff platform.
- We cannot guarantee that external code is secure, reliable or compatible with your website.
- We cannot guarantee that custom code will continue to function following future ShowOff platform updates.
- Any code added to your website is done entirely at your own discretion and risk.
Your Responsibilities
When using custom or AI-generated code, you are responsible for ensuring that it:
- Functions as intended.
- Does not negatively impact your website's performance, stability or security.
- Does not expose visitor or customer data.
- Meets accessibility best practices.
- Follows SEO best practices where appropriate.
- Complies with all applicable legal, regulatory, licensing and copyright requirements.
- Remains compatible with your website as the ShowOff platform evolves.
If Something Goes Wrong
If custom code causes issues with your website, ASP may need to disable or remove the code in order to restore the normal operation of your site.
As the code originates outside of the ShowOff platform, investigating, debugging, modifying or resolving issues caused by custom or AI-generated code falls outside our standard support service.
Where possible, we will advise you of any issues we identify. However, our priority will always be to restore the stability, security and availability of your website.

Will my custom code continue working after ShowOff updates?
Not necessarily. While we aim to maintain platform compatibility wherever possible, we cannot guarantee that third-party or AI-generated code will continue to function after future platform updates.
Is custom code covered under my support agreement?
No. Standard support covers the ShowOff platform itself. Support for externally sourced or AI-generated code is outside the scope of our standard support services.
By choosing to add custom or AI-generated code to your ShowOff website, you acknowledge and accept that:
- ASP is not responsible for the design, development, testing, validation, security, maintenance or ongoing operation of any code that originates outside of the ShowOff platform.
- Any risks associated with implementing external code, including website downtime, data loss, performance degradation, security vulnerabilities, accessibility issues or SEO impacts, remain solely with you.
- ASP reserves the right to disable or remove custom code, either temporarily or permanently, where it is believed to adversely affect the stability, performance, security or integrity of your website or the ShowOff platform.
- Any investigation, recovery work or remediation required as a result of third-party or AI-generated code is outside the scope of standard support and may be chargeable where applicable.
- ASP accepts no liability for any direct or indirect loss, damage, costs or business interruption arising from the use of externally sourced or AI-generated code.
We strongly recommend thoroughly testing any custom code within a staging or non-production environment before deploying it to your live website. Where possible, ensure the code has been independently reviewed and that you retain a copy so it can be reverted quickly should any issues arise.
By implementing custom or AI-generated code, you acknowledge that you have understood and accepted the responsibilities and limitations outlined in this article.
