When using our standard Button or Pop-Up article styles, any image you upload will be automatically darkened to ensure overlaying text remains visible.
On Composer sites, you can override this automatic darkening by renaming your image before uploading.
🔹 How to Upload an Image Without Overlay
-
Rename the Image
Before uploading, add_no_overlayto the end of your image filename.-
Example:
-
Original filename:
joebloggs.jpg -
Updated filename:
joebloggs_no_overlay.jpg
-
-
-
Upload to the CMS
Upload the renamed image either via the Media Manager or directly on the page you are editing. -
Select the Article Style
Use the standard Button or Pop-Up article style, and the image will display without the automatic dark overlay.
💡 Top Tip
-
Ensure the
_no_overlaysuffix is added before uploading—renaming after the image is already in the CMS will not remove the overlay. -
Use this method when you want full control over the image’s brightness or when overlayed text is already legible without additional darkening.
