Showoff uses a Content Delivery Network (CDN) to improve website performance and user experience. The CDN provides several benefits:
Externally hosted files
Smaller page sizes
Quicker load times
Automatic image optimisation
As part of this optimisation, images displayed on your site are automatically converted to .webp format for faster loading.
💾 Bypassing Automatic .webp Conversion for Downloadable Images
If you are uploading high-resolution images that you want visitors or exhibitors to download in their original quality, you can bypass the automatic conversion by creating a special folder in the Media Manager:
Create a folder titled
__downloadin your Media Manager.Upload any images you want to remain in their original format into this folder.
When these images are inserted into a page, right-clicking and selecting Save As will allow users to download the original file in its original dimensions and format.
📝 Tips for Using __download Folders
The folder can be placed anywhere in the Media Manager.
You can have multiple instances of the folder as child folders throughout the Media Manager if needed.
Important: Only use this method for files that need to be downloadable. Using it for all images will increase page sizes significantly and may affect site performance.
This setup allows you to maintain high-quality downloadable assets while still benefiting from CDN optimisation for all other images.
