Pop-ups are a simple but effective way to ensure important messages are seen by all visitors to your website.
🔹 Setting Up a Pop-Up
-
Log in to the CMS
Ensure you are in the correct back office. -
Navigate to Design & Appearance
Go to Settings > Design & Appearance. -
Open the Sections Tab
Scroll to the bottom to find the pop-up settings. -
Adjust the Pop-Up Settings
Setting Description Expiry Date (days) Controls how often cookies refresh so visitors can see the pop-up again without clearing their browser cache. Enabled? Make sure this is switched on to activate the pop-up. Width Enter the width in pixels (e.g., 750px). This will be reflected on the front end. Background Colour Set the main colour for the pop-up using a HEX value or colour picker. Delay Determines how long it takes for the pop-up to appear after the visitor lands on the page. -
Save Your Changes
Scroll to the bottom and click Save.
🔹 Adding Content to Your Pop-Up
-
Go to Panels in the left-hand CMS menu.
-
Locate the pop-up panel (usually at the bottom) and click into it.
-
Add your title, description, and optionally an image via the featured image field.
-
Tip: Ensure the image width matches the width you set in the settings.
-
-
Publish the panel and save.
💡 Top Tips
-
Testing: Use an incognito/private browser to automatically clear cookies, otherwise you may not see the pop-up more than once.
-
Page-Specific Pop-Ups: Apply panel restrictions if you want the pop-up to appear only on certain pages. You can also create multiple pop-ups with different messages for different pages.
-
Advanced Pop-Ups: If the CMS pop-up is too basic, we recommend SiteControl for flexible, custom pop-ups with multiple display options.
