If an image or logo fails to upload or the colors appear slightly different after uploading, it is often because the file is in CMYK color mode.
Why This Happens
-
CMYK images are designed for print purposes, containing extra color and file information not compatible with web browsers.
-
This issue is common when exhibitors upload logos created for print materials rather than digital use.
-
Browsers require images in RGB color mode for accurate display online.
How to Fix CMYK Images
To correct this issue, you need to convert the image from CMYK to RGB using an image editor.
Using Adobe Photoshop (Recommended)
-
Open your image in Photoshop.
-
Go to the top menu and select:
Image > Mode > RGB Color -
Save the image.
-
The file is now ready for upload to Showoff.
Free Alternatives
If you don’t have Photoshop, these free tools can perform the same conversion:
-
Pixlr – Browser-based editor, no installation required.
-
Gimpshop – Downloadable alternative similar to Photoshop.
Note: ASP does not provide technical support for third-party software, but these tools follow a similar process for converting CMYK to RGB.
Need Help?
If you are unable to access any image editing software, you can submit a Maintenance request:
-
Attach the image file.
-
Specify where the image or logo should be uploaded on the website.
ASP Support can convert and upload the image for you.
Best Practice
-
Always check that logos and images are in RGB before uploading.
-
Keep files optimized for web: compressed and sized appropriately to ensure fast loading and consistent display.
