❌ Noindex Guide: Hide Specific Files or Folders from Search Engines
In Showoff, if you don’t want certain images or files to appear in Google search results, you can set those items to Noindex. This prevents them from being indexed by search engines, keeping sensitive or non-public content out of search results.
✅ Benefits of Using Noindex
• 🔒 Keeps private or internal files hidden from Google search
• ⚡ Prevents outdated or irrelevant media from appearing online
• 🧹 Helps maintain a clean and professional public-facing website
• 📈 Improves SEO by ensuring only relevant content is indexed
⚙️ How to Set a File or Folder to Noindex
Follow these steps to apply the Noindex setting in Media Manager:
• 📂 Go to Media Manager
• 🖼️ Click on the image or file you want to edit
• 🔍 Open the popup window for the selected item
• 📝 Click on Metadata
• ⚙️ Go to X-Robots-Tag and tick the Noindex checkbox
• 💾 Click Save
❗ Important Notes
• ⏳ You need to wait for Google to index your site before Noindex changes are reflected in search results. The exact timing of when this happens is not predictable.
• 🔄 You can request Google to recrawl specific URLs using the URL Inspection tool in Google Search Console.
• 📖 For more information on how Google handles crawling, indexing, and noindex tags, see Google’s guide on crawling and indexing.
