When launching a new website with ASP, we provide four essential DNS records you must add for the domain to operate correctly.
You will receive:
1️⃣ CNAME for SSL Certificate Validation
Ensures your site remains secure under HTTPS.
Required for automatic SSL renewal.
2️⃣ CNAME for WWW Repointing
Makes www.yourdomain.com redirect to the correct host.
3️⃣ A Record – Primary IP Address
Points the root domain (yourdomain.com) to our hosting server.
4️⃣ A Record – Secondary/Fallback IP Address
Provides redundancy and helps with uptime and reliability.
⚠️ Important: Do NOT Remove These Records
All four ASP-provided DNS records must remain active year-round.
Removing or altering them may cause:
Site downtime
Broken SSL certificates
Security warnings
Loss of access to the
wwwversion of your domainSearch engine indexing issues
Unpredictable display or routing problems
If you are unsure about any DNS change, please contact ASP support—we’re here to help.
🛠️ When Should You Update DNS?
You may need to update your DNS if:
You’re verifying your domain
You’re updating email providers
You’re adding subdomains
ASP requests a DNS change during a migration
You are connecting external services
If you're not confident, always ask before making DNS changes. DNS errors can take your website offline.
🎯 Summary
DNS controls how your domain connects to websites, email services, and other digital tools.
ASP provides essential DNS records during a site launch:
✔ 1 CNAME for SSL
✔ 1 CNAME for WWW
✔ 2 A Records for primary and secondary IPs
✔ Must remain active at all times
Understanding DNS helps you manage your domain safely and ensures your site stays online, secure, and functioning as expected.
⚠️ DNS Disclaimer – Please Read
ASP does not directly handle DNS updates.
All DNS changes must be made through your domain registrar (e.g., GoDaddy, 123 Reg, Cloudflare, Namecheap, Fasthosts, etc.).
If you're unsure how to update DNS records, your registrar’s support team can assist, or you can contact ASP for clarification on which records are required.
